Our monthly webinar series is the second Wednesday of the month and we invite you to join Doshin Roshi, Integral Zen Master, poet, and self confessed troublemaker as we explore;
An Integral Understanding of a Holistic Way of Being
Wednesday 12 September, 10am PST
An expert in the integral philosophy of Ken Wilber, Doshin had read the collected works of Carl Jung by the age of 17. Hosting our ‘Shining the Light on Cultural Blindspots’ webinar last year, his deep understanding of integral combined with expertise in Jungian psychology made it one of the most popular. A strong voice on postmodernism, Doshin is the founder of Integral Zen, the Colorado branch of the Hollow Bones Zen Order, and co-founder of the Poetry of Dying Project, which uses the mirror of death to point to the essence of life.
Doshin refers to Eric Neumann’s Depth Psychology and a New Ethic, first published in 1949. Neumann contributed to the field of developmental psychology and the psychology of consciousness and creativity. One of Jung’s favourite students, he was a German Jew living in Berlin who moved to Israel in 1934. The writing explores the old ethic of perfection (and the pressure of living up to this expectation causing aspects of our personality to split off into shadows), and the new ethic of wholeness.
Neumann is one of the pioneers in the evolution of human consciousness of the 20th century, along with Maslow and the hierarchy of human needs; Clare Graves and Levels of Existence: An Open System Theory of Values, and more recently, Robert Kegan author of An everyone culture: becoming a deliberately developmental organization.
In conversation with Doshin you might have everything you ever believed in radically challenged. From his awakened mind, a radical shift in consciousness is needed if the holistic centers of postmodern society are to be truly relevant individually and collectively.

You might have heard of the Canadian clinical psychologist and professor Jordan B Peterson? Blasting into the attention of a wider audience through Channel 4 News’ fiery interview earlier this year, the youtube clip has now been viewed over 11 million times. His views on the pay gap, patriarchy, gender politics and postmodernism have attracted both resonance and controversy.
His new book 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos has become a runaway bestseller in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Germany and France, making him ‘the public intellectual du jour’ as quoted by this Guardian article. His attempt to tackle the question, “What are the most valuable things everyone should know?” Peterson stated the book, “isn’t only written for other people. It’s a warning to me”.
In discussion with David Fuller of Rebel Wisdom, Doshin Roshi explores the cultural phenomenon of Jordan Peterson and what his runaway success says about the intense times we are living in – and tries to identify the cultural forces moving below the surface, and the necessity to integrate the shadow.
Rebel Wisdom is a new media channel making films about the biggest ideas – the spearhead of a new counterculture. In the 1960’s the holistic centers emerging were the counterculture. Do we need to evolve in yet unknown ways to be on the leading edge of the evolutionary impulse 50 plus years later? Is it even possible?
If you’ve watched the video above you may have noticed the fascinating polarisation in the comments. Rebel Wisdom have now recorded an analysis which is worth viewing as well. They unpack some of the topics including this polarisation – which is at the core of the potential for transformation.

As I read through the blog, my intuition is telling me that this “trouble maker” is a “disturber” that can lead us to a higher dimension of TRUTH! he he. Im excited. What would be the Philippine time equivalent for this webinar? Thanks
