The Board of Trustees of Unitarian Universalist Rowe Camp and Conference Center, located in Rowe, Massachusetts, is pleased to announce its search for their next Executive Director to assume duties on or before September 1, 2019.
Nestled at the edge of the Berkshire region of western Massachusetts, The Rowe Center offers summer camps for nine to nineteen-year-olds and a rich array of both weekend conferences and extended immersive certificate programs. Their mission is to create a welcoming environment where people of all ages can come to learn about themselves, each other, and the world, and go forth with new insight and courage. They are a community that intentionally and explicitly seeks and invokes the Spirit of Rowe to guide our imagining, planning, and implementation, and living in on-site and extended community.
Felicity Pickett came to Rowe in 1991 as Director of the Conference Center. After 28 years of distinguished service, including the last six as Executive Director, she will retire on August 31, 2019. Felicity’s greatest gifts to Rowe have been her creative, innovative approach to problem-solving, to the benefit of programs as well as people; her ability to foster healthy growth among the unique communities of people who gather here year after year; and her special way of treating everyone with a combination of love, honesty, and respect.
The Board seek in their next Executive Director a leader who will be dedicated to keeping the light on in the house of “the Spirit of Rowe” as Felicity has done so successfully, after being entrusted with the task in 2012 by Founding Director Douglas Fir Wilson and his Co-Director, Prue Berry. And so, with a deep commitment to the guiding UU principles of Rowe’s Spirit, which honor, among other things, the interdependent web of all existence, and the inherent worth and dignity of every person, they invite you to consider taking the helm to guide and lead the on-site and extended Rowe community. Their next Executive Director will (1) optimize Rowe’s operations; and (2) lead a development strategy that will support Rowe’s mission, programs, and operations in the short and long term.
If you feel compelled to walk this journey of discernment with The Rowe Center, know that they look forward to discovering your gifts. Interested candidates may follow the procedure described below to apply. The search will open on Nov. 5, 2018, and will end when mutual discernment brings the next Executive Director.
