To my friends and colleagues, known and unknown within the Holistic Centers Network, a warm greeting. I am Peter Moore, business director of Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat & Conference Center in Oregon. I also serve as president of the Holistic Centers Network and have been looking forward with great anticipation to the next International Holistic Centers Gathering (IHCG), scheduled for May this year at one of my favorite holistic centers on Earth, Esalen Institute in California.
So much for expectations. Esalen is temporarily closed due to Coronavirus concerns; no events happening there this spring, as is the case for so many centers. Breitenbush is also closed now, with all of our staff laid off till further notice, including me. You can almost feel a palpable pause placed on human centered activities worldwide as the pandemic interrupts old norms, and new norms are born.
I’ve been working with Breitenbush since its inception back in 1977. During these more than 40 years I have witnessed a global awakening of consciousness, accompanied and empowered by the proliferation of holistic centers across our world. The IHCG has, for some 35 years, reflected this evolutionary process. It is a wonderful peer-to-peer rendezvous for many of us involved in creating and developing our respective centers.
Now, we as individuals and the centers we represent are all profoundly impacted by what has been characterized as a “new normal”. The challenges we and our centers face are many, and there has never been a more intense and interesting time for us to meet.
So here is my invitation to you.
Please join me and many others involved in this movement at Meeting the Moment, the first virtual International Holistic Centers Gathering, May 3 – 7, 2020.
We are all involved with values-driven organizations founded on service to our guests and an educational curriculum based on human potential, sustainable principles and conscious evolution. Our work in developing and sharing holistic education has never been more pertinent to the human commons. I hope to meet you online at Meeting the Moment commencing this coming Sunday.
