In support of Emerging Centers
8 – 10 May, 2020
Hosted by Esalen Institute, California

Each year, retreat centers from around the world gather at a conference known as the Center’s Gathering.
Esalen is hosting the 2020 Gathering and a public workshop afterwards.

Connect with representatives from established retreat centers
and learn from their wisdom and experience

Rather than a step by step process on how to create a center,
this is an opportunity to share your vision and ask in depth practical questions

Discuss the origins of centers and explore practical aspects
such as programming, marketing, leadership and business models

If you are dreaming of starting a retreat center, in the early stages of developing your center
or are simply curious about how centers do what they do, join us and tap into this rich resource.

Nestled between mountain and ocean, blessed by a cascading canyon stream and hot mineral springs gushing out of a seaside cliff, Esalen is more than a retreat center or an educational institute.

A place of transformational energy, an exhilarating adventure and a place of pilgrimage,
Esalen also travels the world as an inextinguishable, animating spirit—healing lives and history,
sweeping away tired paradigms, and igniting change.

Grounded in the wildly alive Big Sur landscape, Esalen exists in deep relationship with the forces of nature and honors the myriad ways that nature is our source and greatest teacher.

Anchored by the inspiring natural beauty and an unparalleled intellectual history, Esalen is a worldwide network of seekers who forge new understandings of self and society; and pioneer new paths.
