An Interview with Joel Solomon and Dana Bass Solomon
For 25 years Joel Solomon served as Chair of the Hollyhock Board, weaving stewardship and profound responsibility with optimism, inspiration and realism. Dana Bass Solomon joined the Hollyhock Board in the late 90s and served 18 years as CEO from 2003 -2018. Dana was instrumental in guiding Hollyhock and its programs to charitable status.
Dana and Joel married in 2003 and together as life partners they have led two decades of accomplished mission advancement. They then needed to think through and begin a transition. A decision was made to do this together with a plan for Dana and a plan for Joel which they called a five year generational transfer of leadership.
“Some key qualities and principles behind that were, how do we maintain the wellbeing of the field of Hollyhock, the energetic field? And, what is the both practically viable and highest integrity that we could at least imagine of ourselves, an attempt to model.”
