The HCN Webinar Series is offered on the second Wednesday of each month. We’re delighted to welcome different hosts as we learn from the gifts of each center and strengthen the transformational impulse in the world. Join us as we explore The Art of Inner Leadership.
Date: Wednesday, 12 February
Time: 10am PST
Hosted by: Katherine Collis, Findhorn Fellow
Holistic Centers are incredible training grounds for the inner skills of leadership. In this webinar we will explore the core purpose, principles and practices that the Findhorn Foundation and Community was founded on in 1962 and that remain at the heart of community life today. Co-founder Peter Caddy described Findhorn as a ‘Training Center for World Servers’ and the inner skills of leadership are vital in these times of crises. Join us in discussing how these principles cultivate a set of capacities and skills applicable to initiating, navigating and sustaining any collective endeavor.
- Inner Listening
- Co-Creation
- Attunement
- Work as Love in Action
- Community as Spiritual Practice
Katherine lived at the Findhorn Foundation (FF) in the early 1970’s, helping formulate the first guest programs to meet the need of a growing number of visitors. As a Findhorn Fellow she has maintained a relationship with the Foundation, now acting as a consultant in reigniting the founding purpose, teachings and practices unique to that Center, highlighting their relevance in meeting the challenges of our time.
In her words, “Each of our Centers are laboratories of learning, contributing to an evolving body of knowledge and experience that informs the planetary movement towards renewal, regeneration and transformation. While terminology and cultural conditions might differ, we are together discovering those more subtle, less obvious life forces (common denominators) that connect and empower us, help actualize visions and potential, magnetize our work and increase the odds for collective success.”
We offer a few reflective questions in advance of the call:
- What capacities do our personal spiritual practices cultivate in us over time?
- How do we view the connection between inner and outer, spiritual and practical, vision and action, meditation and manifestation?
- In what ways does the founding purpose of your Center live in the daily life and operations of the organization? How do you experience the qualities of this purpose?
Background:
Katherine was a co-founder of the Lorian Association with a group of some 20 individuals who left Findhorn in 1974 and returned to the United States. Over the following decade, they networked groups and communities throughout North America, consulting and leading workshops – the focus being on not just the development of specific centers, but on the awakening of a planetary community of consciousness.
In the 1990’s she and Roger formed their own nonprofit, leading delegations to China, the former Soviet Union and South Africa. Katherine is a spiritual director, educational consultant and retreat leader of some 40 years. Most recently she was Director of the Center for Spiritual Renewal at La Casa de Maria Retreat and Conference Center in Santa Barbara, CA, until its destruction in the fire and mud debris flows of 2018. Katherine embodies the founding principles of the FF and has intimate experience of how they can be applied in all aspects of life and really make a difference.
