What is a Transformational Learning Center?

March 13, 2017 by Christine Lines 3 Comments

In the far north of Scotland, next to the tiny fishing village of Findhorn, lies the Findhorn Foundation. A spiritual community, ecovilllage and center of holistic learning established over 50 years ago and known throughout the world simply as ‘Findhorn’.

Numerous books have been written about this pioneering community, including The Findhorn Garden and The Magic of Findhorn, along with the autobiographies of the three founders; Flight into Freedom and Beyond, In Perfect Timing and Memoirs of an Ordinary Mystic.

Co-workers in the Findhorn Foundation speak of ‘the transformational field’ and I wonder what this means to the lay person? [Read more…]

Mutual Learning and Support within the Network

March 3, 2017 by Christine Lines 1 Comment

A few months ago I received an email from Cameron Wenaus, co-founder of Retreat Guru, who bring together retreats, teachers and practitioners, as well as develop retreat management software. Cameron attended the 2016 Gathering at Le Monastère des Augustines and there are natural overlaps and interconnections between our networks.

He wrote to make an introduction, saying, “Heather Scott is the Executive Director of Dorje Denma Ling, a retreat center in Nova Scotia connected to the Shambhala Lineage. I have been to DDL many times for retreats; it is a humble and powerful location.

I was talking to Heather about the challenges they are facing recently and she expressed a yearning in networking with other retreat centers during this next phase of growth and change. I thought that the Centers Gathering might be a good resource.” [Read more…]

Creating Centers of Consciousness

August 31, 2016 by Christine Lines 9 Comments

RalphIn August, Ralph White, one of the founders of the Holistic Centers Gathering, returned to the Findhorn Foundation in the far north of Scotland to share about his personal quest for meaning. From Wales to Manhattan, with time at Findhorn in the 70s, Ralph drew on the inspiration he gained there to create learning centers that have touched the lives of scores of thousands of participants.

Ralph also offered his views of the subtle transformative changes at work even in environments as dense as New York City, and how the spiritual and holistic awakening is working its way into the world despite the influence of the counter forces of fundamentalism, materialism, and nationalism. Experiencing the 2012 Gathering

May 31, 2012 by Centers' Gathering Leave a Comment

Since the early days of the community, the Findhorn Foundation has been pioneering a new way of living on the earth and linking up with other centres all over the world to form a network of love and light.

Co-founder Peter Caddy said, “It is very much our work to be a point of synthesis, to link centres together to see where we can unite. Each centre has something different that we can learn from, that they can give to us, and we can give to them.”

In this spirit of synthesis the Findhorn Foundation hosted the annual International Holistic Centres Gathering in May 2012, a meeting of peers from around the world who came together to share ideas, experience, hopes and challenges, to learn from and inspire each other, and support the planetary transformation that is unfolding with increasing momentum.

A Centre of Light

April 8, 2012 by Centers' Gathering Leave a Comment

In the 25th birthday edition of the Findhorn Foundation Magazine, One Earth, Peter Caddy, one of the three co-founders of the community, said back in 1987;

“The community has changed the lives of thousands of people throughout the world. Nobody comes to the Findhorn Foundation without being changed in some way. Remember, it is the vibrations here that have been been built up over time that really bring about changes in people. It is a centre of light, a place of spiritual power. There is a lot of love here.”

Today a further 25 years later as we celebrate our 50th birthday, the community continues to transform the lives of the many people who are drawn here. Some come just for a week, others stay for years or even decades, some visit again and again, and all are touched in some way by the love that emanates in the spiritual community. [Read more…]

The Network of Light – Then and Now

February 22, 2012 by Centers' Gathering Leave a Comment

“Scattered around the Earth are untold thousands of individuals, small groups and communities quietly creating a society based upon the unity of the human family and co-creation with the forces of nature. Part of our work at Findhorn is to link with a wide range of these centres, organisations and individuals to reveal an emerging pattern that we call the ‘network of light’.”

Reading these words recently in the Faces of Findhorn, published in 1980, I had a strong feeling this was the voice of my friend Ralph White, who I’d met two years earlier at the Holistic Centres Gathering in Hawaii. I sent him an email and he wrote straight back saying, “Yes, I recognize those words. They’re what I felt all those years ago and they’ve actually been proved true. It’s a wonderful thing!” [Read more…]

Unity in Diversity

January 1, 2012 by Centers' Gathering Leave a Comment

Welcome to 2012, may it be a year filled with peace and love, joy and harmony, health and happiness all over the world.

Sharing words of wisdom from Eileen Caddy

Let there be unity in diversity. See the many paths all leading to the centre, each one different and yet each one leading in the same direction. The closer they come to the centre, the greater the unity, until all become one and there is no longer diversity but complete unity.

You will find it taking place more and more with the many centres of light all over the world. As the world situation grows darker and worsens, so shall they grow brighter and brighter, until light overcomes all darkness.

It is good to see a wider picture of what is taking place, but it is also very important to realise that it all starts within you. Realise that what is taking place within the individual goes out into the world and is reflected in the world situation.

That is why peace of heart and mind is so essential within you, and why harmony, understanding and deep love should flow between you and others.

Community Exchange Programme

December 30, 2011 by Centers' Gathering Leave a Comment

Many intentional communities share the aspiration of creating a more positive future through a spiritual approach to everyday life, and by exploring more sustainable ways of living based on higher levels of human consciousness.

By making it possible for members of communities to visit each other and experience different cultures in an environment conducive to learning, exchanging ideas, personal growth and nourishing personal connections, greater understanding and appreciation of our unity in diversity can develop.

In the spirit of the Network of Light, strengthening connections between communities, the Findhorn Foundation has established community exchange agreements with the like-minded communities listed below and your community is invited to join this exchange!

The Heart of the Gathering

September 17, 2011 by Centers' Gathering Leave a Comment

Ralph White, co-founder of the New York Open Center, describes the Gathering;

The heart of the International Holistic Centers’ Gathering is the meeting of so many diverse groups in a spirit of love, mutual support and unity. Whether they come from Australia or Siberia, Scotland or Santa Cruz, a similar noble vision lives at the core of most centers and changes for the better the lives of the many thousands who attend their programs.

Holistic centers always take courage, inspiration and insight from each other’s work. Ultimately they know that their very existence worldwide is powerful evidence that the awakening for which we all yearn is alive and well, and probably living in a center near you.

If you’re involved in a Holistic Center and interested in attending the next gathering please click here for more details. We look forward to welcoming you to the Findhorn Foundation 12 – 17 May, 2012.
