Rest and Renewal at Yasodhara Ashram
“Can I invite another center to join us for the Gathering at Hollyhock?” asked Swami Dhumavati while I was at Kashi Ashram earlier this year. “Absolutely!” I replied, always curious to discover new places. “I met Swami Lalitananda last November when we attended the Parliament of World Religions in Toronto,” she continued. “She’s from Yasodhara Ashram in B.C. Canada.” The Parliament had a powerful theme and these two ashrams were clearly aligned. Several lineage centers joined the Gathering and later formed a strong focus group to support each other in their similarities and challenges. [Read more…]
Empowering a Love-based Healthcare System
Self Health Empowerment Movement (SHEM) is an all-volunteer organization engaged in self health empowerment and a member of HCN based in the Philippines. SHEM works to manifest the vision of a love based health care system. Dr. Romy, the founder of SHEM, said, “We believe that a combination of doing, thinking, having and being is a powerful formula in realizing the vision of an empowering healthcare system that is built by the people and for the people, a healthcare system that is empowering. A healthcare system that brings back the truth that our body is ‘intelligence’ because it is divinely designed. Our strategy is to focus on the consciousness level because it is at this level that the root cause of all problems of society originate.” [Read more…]

Changing the Planet one Center at a time
By Kashi Interfaith Ashram
“It is rare when I find myself flying between two snowcapped mountains, but this was the case in May when Swami Dhumavati and I were on a small ten seater seaplane completing our trip to Hollyhock, Cortes island, 100 miles north of Vancouver, ” said Swami Durga Das from Kashi Interfaith Ashram in Florida.
Hollyhock was the venue for the annual Holistic Centers Gathering, which included 60 leaders representing 40 centers from around the world. “HCN prides itself on the spirit of collaboration. The Best Way To Predict the Future Is To Invent It
By Peter Moore
Word in the West re: China, our neighbor in the East, is bad! China poses multiple challenges to USA dominance: economically, culturally, militarily. One Belt One Road is changing the worldwide geopolitical landscape. They’re ripping off intellectual property by studying models developed in the West and perfecting them in the East.
There is truth in the above, but something quite distinct from these conventional claims is also emergent in that vast country. I visited China during the month of November, 2018, and my takeaway was progressive. I was invited to Beijing to participate in a 5-day conference titled “Holistic Wellness International Forum.” There I gave a speech titled “Universities of the Soul in a Network of Light.” Corollary to that flowery title was a more focused subtitle, “How Holistic Centers Proliferate Across Our World.”
Announcing the next Peer to Peer Webinar Series
Every year we plan the next webinar series after the Centers Gathering in May. Members of HCN are welcome to suggest topics or offer to host a call throughout the year. We encourage you to invite your colleagues into this online learning space to expand the conversation.
We gather online via zoom technology and each webinar is recorded for access after the live call. The invitation is to explore topics that are relevant for us as holistic centers and share experience, best practices, insights and challenges in a supportive and collaborative way.
Just this morning I was talking to a friend and colleague at Yasodhara Ashram in B.C. Canada. Terry asked, “Do you have a webinar on Adwords?” I was able to reply, “Yes we do!” The library of valuable content is expanding and you’re welcome to dive in and explore.
