The Power of the Heart Moves Us Forward into a New Era
By Werner Brandt
As a Board member of HCN it was a privilege to offer the Work That Reconnects in China last month. All six board members were invited to participate in the first Holistic International Wellness Forum in Beijing both as keynote speakers and faciliators of experiential workshops.
I arrived at Beijing airport in the late evening and was welcomed warmly by the translator. Quickly ushered off to meet our driver, we merged into a sea of late model cars that clogged the roads. 20 years ago roads in China were absent of automobiles; only bicycles and motorcycles were the primary mode of transportation. But this is modern Beijing, a city of twenty million, living in dense clusters of high-rise apartments throughout the city. [Read more…]
Soul-Navigating in China
By Dan Hines
“We all have an inner wise navigator that is reliable and trustworthy. Our mystical traditions are unanimous that we all have a still point: a raised perch on the boat from where our soul-navigator can calmly whisper to us… where we are… and describe the vision of the island beyond the horizon, even when we are voyaging through rough confusing seas.”
Last month, I was graciously invited to speak for an hour to a crowd of over 700 leaders, entrepreneurs and community activists in a remarkable hotel complex just south of Beijing, China. These were some of the words that I voiced as I shared a set of stories, reflections and a guided meditation on the theme that was entitled “Holistic Navigation”. The gathering was given the hopeful title of the ‘Holistic Wellness International Forum’. The forum was co-hosted by both an inspiring organization I have visited in Beijing- Bene Wellness– and also by the global Holistic Centers Network. It lived up to the billing of being holistic and international. [Read more…]
The Wisdom of Emerging Ecovillages in China
Reflections from Mr Yu
Project Manager of Find Wellness Ecological Villages.
In partnership with Songlin Liu, Founder of Bene Wellness.
The following reflections were inspired by our visit to emerging ecovillages on Hainan Island after the Holistic Wellness International Forum in Beijing. After our first evening and a sharing of values and ideas, we invited Mr Yu to share his philosophy in writing. He embraced the opportunity and later said he hadn’t thought about the subject as deeply before.
Let me talk about something that has not been discussed on other occasions – the Chinese people’s thinking about why we need ecology in the world today. Environmental issues are one of the greatest concerns. Human beings face an extreme ecological crisis related to their own survival and development.
People began to wake up and reflect and the global movement for environmental protection developed. Ecology is of great significance and value to society in the 21st century, mainly manifested in the re-shaping of human values and the redefinition of the relationship between man and nature as a harmonious unification.
The Holistic Impulse
By Jeffrey Williams
Much of the story can and only will be told by time, yet what can be told of my recent travels in China is that there is something emerging. An impulse that has long been acted upon by initiators of holistic centers, alternative lifestyles, and modern day adopters of traditional wellness systems has been emerging in China and all over the world. Letter from China
By Ralph White
A visit to China today for someone with an interest in holistic matters is a heartening experience. Our image of this country for decades has been that of relentless economic growth, and before that the horrors of the Cultural Revolution in the Sixties with its focus on the destruction of so much of China’s ancient heritage both culturally and architecturally. The Holistic Lifestyle Conference in Beijing
Last autumn I was contemplating my travel plans and juggling a proposed visit to the Community of Living Ethics in Italy and International Peace Initiatives in Kenya. Then an invitation to give a presentation in China arrived and I listened to where I felt most called. It would be my third visit to China over consecutive years and from the very first I was curious about the emerging eco-holistic impulse that was positively tangible. In recognition of the support we’d received since hosting our first Gathering in Beijing in 2015 and the possibility of new doors opening, there was an inner nudge to prioritise the visit to this vast continent. Deepening our connections with China
In mid October I received an unexpected invitation to visit China for the third consecutive year. After the 2015 Centers Gathering in Beijing, Mr Liu, founder of the community that hosted the event, was inspired to build the Orenda Psychosomatic Medicine Museum showcasing the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the leading science of health care and the holistic movement in the Western world. They were keen to feature the Findhorn Foundation first, in recognition of the international community and their connection with the United Nations. [Read more…]
A New Harmony in Mind-Body Healing
A year after the Holistic Centers Gathering in Beijing, representatives from different centers were invited to attend The Localization and Globalization of Psychosomatic Medicine World Forum, hosted by Orenda Group at Jackson Hole Beijing October 10-14, 2016.
Ludwig Fischer and Peter Moore share this report.
The Setting:
Two hours north of Beijing, at the foot of the Yanshan Mountains, ancient Taoist caves bear witness from surrounding heights. They add a subtle sacred presence to the verdant landscape of streams and pools, vineyards and valley views. Jackson Hole Beijing is a themed Western Town with offerings of sophisticated luxury infused with ecological awareness. The Chinese community that inhabits the homes here share common commitments informed by an atmosphere of Enlightenment values. [Read more…]
A Unique Cross-Cultural Gathering
Since 2010 I’ve had the great joy of attending the Holistic Centers Gathering that takes place around the world every year. In October it was held in Asia for the first time in its 30-year history – a unique cross-cultural experience full of potential for the future of humanity.
Hosted by The House of I, we were nestled in the mountainous region of Yanqing, to Beijing’s northwest and 80km from the Great Wall of China, one of the sites of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. I feel the Gathering shares an affinity with the spirit of the Olympics – nations coming together to foster understanding and friendship. [Read more…]
